Speaking of buildings...

Yes, the contstruction continues on our roof; please bear with us during this time, and ask for help if you cannot access books on the top floor. We will be very glad to get them for you thru inter-library loan.

Speaking of buildings, have you ever wondered who the people were all these buildings on campus were named after? Drake for example was named after two people (unrelated,) one of whom was an administrator here and the other, pictured here, was our campus school librarian for many years.
You can learn all about the diverse group of people for whom our buildings are named by going to one of our college archives pages.

New roof construction

We are so very glad for the roof construction that is beginning now. The building has been in real need of a new roof, as many of you will know.

The only catch is that during the time of construction some sections of our circulating book collection on the top floor will be unavailable. During this time we can get copies of titles from those areas through inter-library loan for you. The affected areas are:

A - BX1752 (philosophy, psychology), DK274.5-DX (history), LA227-LB2831.58 (education), and PN623P-PR588.C5 (language literature).

Thanks for your understanding, and we expect this phase of the work to be done and the books available again sometime in September, if not sooner.

Happy Fourth of July!

We're closed tomorrow, July Fourth, for Independance Day. If you're looking for something beyond fireworks and cookouts, as enjoyable as those are, you can learn more about the Declaration of Independance at the National Archives site.

There are also many, many books in our library about the American Revolution, biographies of people like Thomas Jefferson, the author of the declaration etc.

Pictured here is the 1940 painting by Christy of the signing of the Declaration of Independance.
