Father of the thesaurus?

Peter Mark Roget, pictured here, was a 19th century physician, and also the creator of the famous Roget's Thesaurus, which has been in print ever since its first publication in 1852. While there had been other thesaruses before his, Rogets was the first with widespread and lasting appeal. (Many copies of the current edition of Rogets are to be found in Drake Library.)
There's a well done article on him in the Times of London. Soon to come from Oxford University Press is the Historical Dictionary of the Oxford English Dictionary. There is an article in today's Times on it, and we will be ordering it here at Drake.
