Bookplates anyone?

Many are familiar with the bookplate, that slip of paper mounted on the inside cover of a book giving the owner's name, and often serving as something of an artistic or personal statement. There's an intriguing article on the psychology of the bookplate here. Keep an eye out when browsing the library shelves, you may see one of our older volumes with a "Brockport Normal School" bookplate on the inside cover!

The bookplate pictured here features a woodblock print done by Lorenzo Spallino in 1962. The Italian text reads "I know that I know nothing."
