New fav German food!

The new fav food in Germany isn't the traditional bratwurst, or even modern Western fast foods, like McDonalds, but is something from Turkey, the donar kebab or shawarma, courtesy of the large Turkish population in Germany today. (Pictured here.) The history of food, how food is used and perceived in different cultures, are fascinating areas of research that we see people studying occasionally here at the college.

There are lots of great books in our catalog on food, many in the TX350's on the top floor. We have some online resources too, like the Encyclopedia of Food and Culture. One place to look for articles besides the usual Academic Search & JSTOR would EthnicNewswatch, which has journal and other periodical articles from a wide range of ethnic focus titles.
