A nice cool drink of water...

Nothing like it is there, a refreshing drink of water when you're thirsty. But ever wonder where that water comes from, and how clean it really is? The folks at the Monroe County Water Authority, who supply the region's drinking water, including to the college, issue a report on the quality of their water every year. You can see it and much other information at their web site.

There is a lot of interest in water quality issues in our own Environmental Science & Biology department. Pictured here are students from that department doing water research on  a local stream, Sandy Creek. Environment Complete is a great database to begin looking for articles on water issues, and our research guide to Environmental Science has a lot more suggestions for information sources.

Oh, if you were wondering, most of our local drinking water comes from Lake Ontario :-)
