A garden is a nice place to sit and take a little break when life gets busy, which it probably is for many at this point in the semester! The Library of Congress has added a new collection to its online galleries, hand colored slides of gardens taken a century or so ago by renowned photographer Frances Johnston. She was one of the first women to achieve real prominence as a photographer. You can view a large number of her photographs here. Wouldn't this pergola shown here be a nice spot to sit and take a bit of a rest? It was part of the gardens of a Mrs. Allen in Pasadena California.
