It's an article, it's a book, it's...
It's a reference book! Sometimes what a researcher needs isn't an article from a journal, or a book from our collection, but something from a reference book instead. For example, a word definition from a definitive source like the Oxford English Dictionary, a piece on a legal issue from West's Encyclopedia of American Law, or maybe something from Encyclopaedia Britannica. We have all these and lots more online; plus yet more in our print reference collection. See our guide to reference resources, or ask one of us for more about these useful information sources.
