Article or book?

Sometimes  you simply have to have one or the other, for example if you're a student and the professor says get 5 peer reviewed journal articles on your topic, then articles it is. But sometimes what you may need most is information on your topic, whether it comes from a book or an article. For example some topics just tend to be better covered in articles, especially if they are on recent or current subjects. If you wanted books on racial profiling in airports, the chances are that the catalog wouldn't have much. There's be a lot of articles though. Be open to discovery in your research, try not to get hung up on format, and you can probably find just the information you need. If you can't, just ask one of us for help!
