"Fine Blocks & Important Manufactories"

You may well recognize the building in this image as home of the popular local boutique "Bitter Sweet," but back when it was built it was known as the "Decker Block" after the owner, J.D. Decker. The illustration is from the old 1877 History of Monroe County, New York; With Illustrations Descriptive of its Scenery, Palatial Residences, Public Buildings, Fine Blocks and Important Manufactories... We have a copy in our Local History collection, and have scanned some of its sections to post in the local history section of our Digital Commons. Local history research can be quite rewarding, but like any research has its challenges; the "Regional/Local History" tab in our history guide should be of some assistance.
