More on hurricanes

Hurricane Sandy was a storm of tremendous dimensions, and one doesn't need to be an Earth Science major to be curious about hurricanes, what they are, how they form, their impact over the years and so forth. We have many books in our catalog about hurricanes, and article databases like Academic Search and ScienceDirect would be good sources of journal articles. The NY Times Historical would give newspaper reporting on storms of the past, for example the "Great Hurricane" of 1938, which struck in much the same area as Hurricane Sandy. We have some reference materials online too, for example the Weather Almanac, which has a good entry on hurricanes.
