It will be the centennial this coming August of the outbreak of WWI in Europe, and many books and online sites are coming out or already available. The
British National Archives WWI site has a good amount of material online already. The
Imperial War Museum has a WWI section, and the French
Musée de la Grande Guerre du Pays de Meaux is an excellent resource and the link is to the English language version. One clever thing the French museum is doing is to have a
Facebook page featuring French soldier Leon Vivien, shown left, posting "live" from WWI!
And of course a search in
our catalog will yield many books, sources like
JSTOR,
Historical Abstracts and
America: History and Life articles from journals, and we do have the
NY Times Historical Archive which has all the articles, features and so forth from the WWI era.
