Visiting the Stained Glass Windows

Shown here are some of a group of 5th grade students from the Brockport school district who have been doing a special project in which they are studying stained glass, how it is made, the history of stained glass windows and so forth. The students came to the library recently in order to view the historic stained glass windows that are housed on the ground floor. The windows are survivals from the old Normal school building that stood where Hartwell Hall is today. That building was torn down in the late 1930s when Hartwell was erected, and the windows were removed, boxed up and stored in Hartwell for many years. In the 1970s they were rediscovered and installed the then newly constructed Drake Library.
