The College's 175th anniversary

This coming fall the college will be celebrating our 175th anniversary! Brockport started out as a small private "academy," which in the early 1800s was something of a cross between a modern high school and college. This was at a time when very few actual colleges existed, there were no high schools, and the public schools only went through the 8th grade. So right from the beginning the college was a pioneering institution in higher education.

You can learn about the history of our school at the college archives pages. Learn about the history of the campus buildings, the programs, sports, special events such as "Color Day" and much more! Pictured here is a student doing the news at the college radio station in the early 1960s.
