an article in the Wall St. Journal today, which describes how research is showing that writing by hand stimulates and involves quite a range of the brain. Good for both children and aging baby boomers seeking some mental stimulation :-)
While in schools today penmanship receives only modest attention, in earlier generations it was much different. We have some books from that era in our collection, for example Freeman's Teaching of Handwriting from 1914. Perhaps we should buy one or two of the books suggested in the WSJ article!
