Suggestions for the library?

Here in the library we often discuss how to better make our services available to you, whether virtually or in person. One thing we have talked about are the different service desks in the library, and whether at some point it might be good to rearrange them, or combine some of them. We can read the library literature, we can discuss our own experience, but we would love suggestions from you, our patrons.

Please feel free to post comments to this blog, or email us at adrake@brockport.edu, or use the suggestion box in the library lobby.

Who knows, we may do something as radical as building a reference desk out of old books, as pictured here! (This photo is from Delft University of Technology in the Netherlands.)

It would be awesome if the library was open 24/7 or at least 20/7. The Friday and Saturday hours are terrible, closing at 4:30 seriously... only opening at 10 or 11 am on Saturday and Sunday, should be earlier. Would be willing to help out with this, if there is a problem other than money that keeps the library from being open.

Thanks, I will pass your suggestion re the hours along. We based our closing hours on Fri and Sat on stats for the number of people in the building, but are always willing to reconsider things where possible.
