Your tweets now saved for posterity...

If you had been concerned about the long term preservation of your tweets from Twitter, fear not, the Library of Congress is on the job. According to this news item from the Federal News Radio the Library of Congress will be receiving Twitter's archives of public tweets, literally billions of of them. The news brings up something that is a huge issue for those concerned about history, namely how lasting are electronic records? We all have family letters or photographs from decades ago, but what about the emails you sent last year, or the digital pictures of your friends taken with your cell phone?
