Researchers often want to see primary documents, sources from the time something happened. Newspapers can do play this role nicely. For example, if you were researching the influenza epidemic of 1918, contemporary newspaper stories would be quite informative primary documents. Our History research guide and our Primary Source guides can help locate these sorts of resources. Some will be online, but others may be in microfilm on the ground floor, it just depends! Ask one of us for help if you aren't sure.
